How do I take an online CLE course?
Once you purchase the online CLE course, you may log into your account and go to the course, where you will be able to access detailed instructions about how to take the course and how to certify your completion of the course, so that we may report your credit.

How are the CLE materials distributed?
A printed copy of the CLE book will be distributed at the in-person CLE. If you registered for an online CLE, a pdf copy of the CLE book will be made available online.

What if I have to cancel my registration for an in-person CLE?
You must cancel your registration by emailing [email protected] at least 72 hours in advance of the CLE. Upon timely cancellation, you will receive a refund less a $25 cancellation fee. If you do not timely cancel you registration but are unable to attend in person, you will be given access to the online CLE at no extra charge. The online CLE will be available in April or May 2024. You will also be able to access a pdf copy of the CLE book at that time.

What if I do not attend the in-person CLE for which I preregistered?
If you did not timely cancel and did not attend the in-person CLE, you will be given access to the online CLE at no extra charge. The online CLE will be available in April or May 2024. You will also be able to access a PDF copy of the CLE book at that time.

Who will report my CLE credit and pay any fees?
Mississippi Law CLE, LLC will report your credit to appropriate commissions in Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee and Texas. Mississippi Law CLE, LLC will pay the $2/credit hour fee in Mississippi and Tennessee. There are no fees associated with reporting credit in Alabama, Louisiana or Texas. Georgia lawyers will be billed by the Georgia Commission on CLC for the $4/credit hour fee for the in-person CLE. Mississippi Law CLE, LLC will pay the $4/credit hour fee for Georgia lawyers taking the online CLE.

What are the CLE requirements in Mississippi?
Requirements: During each reporting period (August 1 through July 31 of each year), attorneys must earn a minimum of 12 hours including 1 hour of legal ethics, professional responsibility, professionalism, malpractice prevention, substance abuse or mental health (the “ethics/professionalism hour”). [Rule 3.a.]
Distance Learning/Online CLEs: Generally, attorneys may earn as many as 6 hours each year (including the ethics requirement) through approved distance learning programs (live webcasts, online on-demand programs, live teleconferences, or video replay). [Regulation 3.3] The Mississippi Commission on Continuing Legal Education will not be requesting a waiver of the online limit for CLE credits for 2023-2024. The six-hour credit limit for CLE earned from any online program has been reinstated.
Carrying Credits Forward: Attorneys may carry forward 12 hours of credit for in-person CLE to the next reporting period. Excess credit for in-person Ethics hours may be carried forward as a regular hour (not an Ethics hour). Excess distance learning courses taken during a reporting period are not eligible for carryover to the next reporting period. [Regulations 3.3 and 3.7]
Fees: For in-state CLEs, the sponsor is required to pay $2 per hour reported. [Rule 1.d (as amended August 2021)].
Newly Licensed Attorneys: Attorneys newly licensed to practice law are required to complete a new-lawyer program. Although the Summary of Recent Mississippi Law CLE does not satisfy this requirement, attorneys newly licensed in Mississippi but who have practiced elsewhere may be partially exempt from the new-lawyer program requirements. [Rule 3.b and c.]

If you have not previously registered online or need to reset your username or password, do so here. Click on “Request User ID or Reset Password” and fill out the appropriate information.

What are the CLE requirements in Alabama?
Requirements: During each reporting period (January 1 through December 31 of each year), attorneys must earn a minimum of 12 hours including 1 hour of legal ethics. [Rule 3].
Distance Learning/Online CLEs: Generally, a minimum of 6 credit hours must be earned through attendance at live in-person CLEs. [Regulation 3.1] Web-based programs are limited to 6 hours of credit per year. [Regulation 5.3]
Carrying Credits Forward: A maximum of 12 hours, including 1 ethics hour, in excess of the minimum annual requirement may be carried forward for credit in the succeeding year. Credits may be carried forward for one year only. [Rule 6.B]

Attorneys may log in to their MyDashboard page on the Alabama State Bar website here to view detailed CLE transcripts. CLE sponsors have 30 days after course.

What are the CLE requirements in Louisiana?
Requirements: During each reporting period (January 1 through December 31 of each year), attorneys must earn a minimum of 12.5 hours, including at least 1 hour of legal ethics and at least 1 hour of professionalism. [Rule 3(a) and (c)].
Distance Learning/Online CLEs: Generally, credit for distance learning/online CLEs is limited to 4 hours annually. These credits are called “self-study” credits. [Rule 3.d].
Carrying Credits Forward: Attorneys may carry forward a maximum of 8 hours. Hours carried forward cannot include the mandatory hours for ethics or professionalism. [Regulations 5.4 & 5.5].
Newly Licensed Attorneys: There are special requirements for newly admitted active members of the Louisiana bar. They are required to earn 12.5 hours of credit during the year of admissions and through the next calendar year. 8 hours shall concern legal ethics, professionalism, or law office management. [Rule 3(b)].

What are the CLE requirements in Tennessee?
Requirements: Attorneys must earn a minimum of 15 total hours in each reporting period (January through December 31), including 12 general hours and 3 ethics/professionalism (or dual) hours. [Rule 21, Section 3.01].
Distance Learning/Online CLEs: Generally, a lawyer may earn a maximum of 8 hours in approved distance learning/online CLEs. [Rule 21, Section 4.02(c)].
Carrying Credits Forward: You may carry forward a full year’s worth of credits (15 hours) into the next compliance year, but only 8 hours carried forward may be for distance learning/online CLEs. [Rule 21, Section 4.02(b) & (c)].
Fees: Pursuant to an October 8, 2021 court order, CLE sponsors must report attendance and pay a $2 fee for each credit hour reported. See the order here.

What are the CLE requirements in Texas?
Requirements: After the initial 24-month compliance year, attorneys must earn 15 hours of credit during each compliance year. The compliance year runs from the first day of the lawyer’s birth month to the last day of the month immediately preceding the lawyer’s birth month. 3 of the 15 hours must be legal ethics/professional responsibility hours. [Regulations 1.2, 1.3, 3.1, 3.2]
Distance Learning/Online CLEs: Lawyers may earn all fifteen hours online.
Carrying Credits Forward: Lawyers may carry a maximum of 15 credit hours forward, including. Legal ethics/professional responsibility hours. Excess credits may only be carried forward to the next compliance year. [Regulation 3.3]
Newly Licensed Attorneys: Lawyers must earn 15 credit hour during the initial 24-motnh compliance period, including the 4-hour Justice James A. Baker Guide to Ethics and Professionalism.

What are the CLE requirements in Georgia?
Requirements: Attorneys must earn 12 CLE credit hours, including 1 ethics hour and 1 professionalism hour. [Rule 8-104(A) & (B)].
Distance Learning/Online CLEs: Attorneys may earn all 12 hours through approved distance learning courses. [Rule 8-106; Regulation 15].
Carrying Credits Forward: Excess credit may be carried forward to the following year. [Rule 8-104(A)]
Fees: The $4/credit hour fee for the in-person CLEs will be charged to the lawyer by the Georgia Commission on CLC. The $4/credit hour fee for online CLEs will be paid by the Mississippi Law CLE, LLC.
Newly Licensed Attorneys: There are special requirements for newly admitted attorneys. See Rule 8-104(B).
